Title: RAF Kelstern (Photo. 1)
Author: P. M. Fenwick

The remains of a WWII runway at the former RAF Kelstern. This Royal Air Force station, perched high on the Lincolnshire Wolds, was operational from October 1943 until April 1945. Only Lancaster aircraft were based here.

It's worth pausing for a moment at this important remnant of WWII history and trying to imagine the same view in 1944.

The remaining WWII Chain Home radar tower at the former RAF Stenigot can just be seen in the far distance.
