Title: "Myrtle Grove" Cigarettes - London and Grimsby
Author: Taddy & Co design. Photo by Paul M. Fenwick

Taddy & Co was established in 1740 by James Taddy. By the end of the 19th century, the company had grown to become one of the most prosperous tobacco companies in Britain. Taddy & Co was also renowned for the quality of their cigarette cards which are highly collectable today.

Taddy & Co employees were relatively well paid but they still joined a strike of the cigarette industry in 1920. The owner of the company at the time was so upset he simply closed the business!

I would be grateful for more information regarding the Grimsby connection.
