A great photo! The trawler was built in Selby in 1936 (1929?) for the Crampin Steam Fishing Co. Ltd. of Grimsby and named after a famous cricketer of the time.

GY255 was preforming a wartime role for the 22nd Anti-Submarine Group when, on the 25th April 1940, she was badly damaged by German aircraft and ran aground in Norway. Survivors were taken back to England. She was later raised by the German Navy and initially renamed 'Franke' and given various numbers at later dates. The vessel ended her days when she was mined off Norway on 14th December 1945.
