Sir George Frederick Sleight, 1st Baronet, was a Grimsby fishing trawler owner and fish merchant. He started his career as a cockle gatherer and went on to build an empire owning the largest number of trawling smacks in the world. He was a pioneer of steam trawlers and acquired the largest fleet of these in the world. Most of his vessels were commandeered for mine sweeping and patrol duties during WWI. Many were sunk!

Mr H. Hayes was a fishmonger in Spalding.
