Title: Entrance to People's Park, Grimsby
Author: F.C.C. Series
Date: A March 2019 scan of an original c1911 photographic postcard

People's Park, Grimsby was designed by William Barron and Sons and opened in 1883. The park is designated at Grade II for its design and remains essentially unchanged from its original 1880s layout.

The lodge, shown in the photo, was built c1885-9 and was demolished in 1966 to be replaced by a bungalow. The wonderful entrance gate, on the right, was removed in 1943 to provide metal for the war effort. Wouldn't it be great if a replica of this arch were to be erected?
