Title: Cleethorpes Jubilee Fountain by H. G. Glen & Co.
Author: H. G. Glen and Co., Boar Lane Chambers, Leeds
Date: A May 2019 image taken directly from an original c1905 photographic postcard posted in Cleethorpes on 24th July 1905 and sent to an address in Clowne, near Chesterfield.

A wonderfully sharp, early postcard! This beautiful, ornate, cast-iron fountain was presented to the town of Cleethorpes by the Grant family to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

Sadly, the fountain was declared unrepairable after a car ran into it in 1949. Photographic evidence suggests that it could have been repaired as only two or three of the pillars were hit and the ornate, upper part was undamaged.
