Title: A. P. Carline, Baker & Confectioner, Barton upon Humber c1906
Author: N.F.B. (see tree)
Date: An October 2018 scan of an original c1906 photo

A superb, early, real photo postcard. Presumably it's A. P. Carline and his wife in the picture. On the side of the carriage it says, 'A. P. Carline', 'Baker & Confectioner', possibly 'Junction Square' and possibly 'Hovis Bread'. Above the lady, it says, 'Noted for Teas & Baking Powder'.

The card was posted in Barton on Humber on 6th December 1906 to a Mrs Blythe of Clay Lane, Wootton, Ulceby. The sender is asking for 3 or 4 lbs of curd. It's required to make a curd cheese cake for a wedding.

From a 1907 Barton directory: A. P. Carline, Junction Square, Reliance Bakery, Wholesale and Retail Flour Dealer.

Was this Arthur Priestley Carline who was born in 1875 in the first quarter of 1875 in the Brigg area? Did he marry a Mary Ann Cooper in 1900 (Bradford?)? An Arthur Priestley Carline died in Scunthorpe in 1943, aged 68.
