A superb condition, original badge from a pair of WWII overalls or blazer showing the King's crown and the squadron motto, "We Avenge".

The squadron was formed on 1st October 1943 at RAF Kelstern, a remote location on top of the Lincolnshire Wolds, and equipped with Avro Lancasters. The squadron mainly carried out night bombing raids over Germany. On 5th April 1945, the squadron moved to RAF Scampton, Lincolnshire and remained there until it was disbanded on 7th October 1945.

A memorial at the side of the road around the former airfield proudly displays the "We Avenge" motto.

A World War I airfield was also based at Kelstern.
