The steamship on the right is named as the Nidaros from Esbjerg (Denmark). A quick search suggests that the S.S. Nidaros was built in 1890 and was scrapped in 1937. It did indeed once operate between Esbjerg and Grimsby and, it appears, carried passengers as well as goods.

I wonder why the Dock Tower has some scaffolding around it at the widest part. If the history of repairs made to the tower is known, then this information could accurately date the photo.
