Hats off to the photographer for producing such a fine and sharp group portrait!

These lads look very smart in their, presumably new, GPO uniforms. The collar numbers are T1, T12 and T42.

Telegram boys were expected to behave in a manner befitting one who wore a uniform of the Queen. They would often deliver terrible news and their knock at the front door was much feared. Apparently, the 'bad news' telegrams were marked in such a way that the boys knew not to hang around.
