Comments:

One of the modest number of Grimsby folk who have made a Who's Who list. Alwyn Guy Carruthers (known as Guy?) had a distinguished civil servicee career as Director of Statistics for the Department of Employment.

AGC was born in Grimsby in 1925, the younger son of John Sendall Carruthers and Lilly E Carruthers (nee Morris) who married in Grimsby in 1918.

His school reports show that he was indeed very good at mathematics and was regularly in 1st or 2nd overall position in his class. He went on to study in Cambridge and London.

AGC married (Edith) Eileen Lumb, of Corby Glen (Lincs.) connections, in Dartford, Kent, in 1950.

AGC and Eileen made their home in Bexleyheath, Kent. He died in 2014, aged 89.

The photo shows AGC and Eileen on holiday.
